Agenda
Approval of previous minutes
Philippe BAUDRENGHIEN reminded that for the RF the LHC is considered as two independent rings. As two independent RF frequencies will exist (one for each ring), he raised up the question if two independent transmission (i.e. distribution) systems must exit in order to distribute simultaneously both frequencies. He asked SL/BI to clarify his requirements regarding the distribution of the revolution frequencies. He reminded also the necessicity to clarify the source of the 1pps signal. This signal can be obtained either directly from the GPS system or from the PS 10MHz frequency.
Progress on RF timing requirements
Philippe BAUDRENGHIEN reviewed the different timing requirements for the RF system (see slide attached) He identified the different timing information required by the different RF system (200MHz, 400MHz, transverse damper and RF low level ) for the different RF operation mode:
He reminded that the operation of the LHC RF system during the filling will be tightly linked with the SPS RF system and will be seen as a cyclic operation mode. For this reason, he explained that a timing system based on absolute time appears to be incompatible with operation of the LHC RF system. He expressed the necessity, for the RF system, to obtain through the timing system information on the ring to be filled, on the injection number, on the injection bucket number...
Presentation to SL/TC
Gary BEETHAM presented the report that he will done to the PLC committee on the working group work progress. (see slide attached)
